Details:

Tacoma - We bought the Tacoma new and it has served us well. It is an access cab which is nice for storing climbing gear and is fitted with custom made gear storage racks. All maintenance service done on time and by Toyota dealers including the 60k tune-up done this week. It has Firestone Ride Rite Air bags installed to assist with the weight of the camper. The truck sits on Dick Cepek Trail Country EXP (Load Range E tires – 10 ply, 1520 lbs per tire)

It has side running boards and bug screen (see photos). It is a 6 speed manual which is key when carrying the camper. Rubber floor mats, SiriusXM capable, touch screen, 6 foot bed etc.

4 Wheel Camper – This camper has always been stored inside unless being used for a trip. It is a front dinette model and is what 4 Wheel calls the “Silver Spur” package which is a grey more modern interior. A list of all the options included are below. The AGM batteries were replaced this winter (Feb 2023); a new propane and CO2 alarm was installed this summer (the old ones were notorious for false alarms); and a new hot water tank (porcelain lined steel) was installed this summer to replace the crummy aluminum one that came with the camper.

A few other highlights include 160W of solar which has been plenty for any of our trips (We just did 7 weeks out west with no problems and never plugged in), 65 liter fridge/freezer, forced air furnace, 6 gal H2O heater with outside shower nozzle, 20 gal of fresh water in addition to the 6 gal tank, Fiamma awning, Yakima tracks, 2 x powered roof fans – one in the galley and one over the bed. It has a flush mounted sink and two burner propane stove (with two medium sized propane tanks that last forever). We will also include a homemade steel step that attaches to the hitch and is really useful. Lots of interior and exterior LEDs, mechanical jacks, and it also has the thermal package which helps keep things warm in the winter. An equivalent new camper from 4 Wheel would cost $40k before taxes, delivery, and documentation fees are added… not to mention the wait times for these right now.

We have done trips out west in the summer and winter and taken the camper to Alaska. No problems whatsoever. More photos are available as well as an interior and exterior video for those interested.
