This backpack has been used for about 10 weekend trips over the past year. It is in excellent shape, with no rips, tears, or any wear on the fabric to speak of. However, I did cut off the side compression straps as I found them to be unnecessary. This shaved about 3oz off of the weight of the pack. I now just clip the top closed like a dry bag (see pictures). It is a great pack, and will handle 30+lbs like a dream. I never get past 20lbs total anymore, so its time to let this go.
