I usually make a couple shelters to use each year and then sell them in order to fund the materials for another winter shelter project.

 

I just got back from the Wind Rivers where I used my big Mid and also my MYOG tarptent.

Used only 5 nights in the wind rivers last week.  Held up just fine to a good hail/sleet/rain storm up at 10,500 feet.  I used 2 trekking poles strapped together for the middle pole.  This is made with Seconds 1.1oz SilNylon.  It has a little bit thicker coating than normal and therefore more waterproof.  It is also seam sealed.
