What are people’s experiences with the long term integrity of SilLite silnylon (as used on my GoLite Hex 3.)

I own a used Hex 3 but I haven’t taken it out in the rain. When I bought it the previous owner told me I may want to reapply a solar proofer/ waterproofer as he had applied one many years before.  I’d prefer not to do this for a few reasons, mainly that old reviews suggest the heavy 1.76 oz/ sq.y d should be very waterproof.  I have no yard or hose to test the tent for waterproofness or wetting through so I’d like to hear from others.
