Montbell 800-fill Goose Down Jacket (men's medium):  $50

  • Retailed for $229
  • 800- fill goose down, responsibly sourced (see Montbell's policy on harvesting goose down)
  • Lightweight:  only  6.53 oz.
  • Elastic cuffs
  • Stuffs into small stuff sack (provided)
  • NO pockets--keeps the jacket very lightweight
  • Has several repaired tears (see photos).  I like to call these "street creds."  Repaired right away, so no down loss.  Some repairs done with duct tape--this was before I knew about Tenacious Tape & Seam Grip. Tears were "earned" climbing off-width. Lesson learned: (1) climbing off-width is just a bad idea to start with, and (2) if you wear a lightweight down jacket, put your Houdini on over it....
