Hello all, my daughter is off to college in a month or two (still in some level of disbelief and denial). She is going to Pitzer college outside of LA and they have a very active outdoors community and beautiful places to hike close by so... Part of my graduation gift to her is going to be a little outdoors kit. I have an older North Face down bag that will suffice just fine for her sleeping bag so I am looking for the following items:

Puffy jacket --- My daughter is 5'10" tall and athletically built so thinking at least a medium if not a large (would love a comment from any women that might have a thought on sizing for her). I think hooded would be preferred but not necessary.

Sleeping mat -- inflatable and reasonably light weight.

35-45L pack. Golite, Osprey or any of the cottage manufacturers?

Headlamp

Size 8 trail runners -- non Gore-Tex but not minimalist either.

Worth a shot. Let's get our youth hooked on the outdoors!
